What was the highlight of Toong I Hotel
Decent place to stay for a decent price - fabulous location
Fabulous location very near the train station and lots of food options nearby! Other than the ants I saw crawling around on the desk a few times, the room appeared to be quite clean. The bathroom had a tub - a luxury I don’t often get to enjoy in Taiwan.
While the hardness of the mattress didn’t bother me, I know this will be a problem for some westerners who can’t adjust to the nearly board hard mattresses that some Taiwanese people love. The control for the AC was not in the room. The lady at the front desk turned the AC on for me and that night it was cool enough, but in the morning the room was a bit too warm. There was a fan in the room so that was nice. There were no bags in the trash cans, which may not bother other people but I did find it a bit unsettling.

Overnight stay in Chiayi for convenience to train station
The staff we're very friendly and helpful as we we're staying overnight intending to visit Alishan the next morning. The accommodation was very convenient as Chiayi Train Station was just around the corner.
The style of the accommodation looked very dated and old, but we only needed some place to stay overnight as we we're intending to visit Alishan the next morning and wanted to be near the train station.
